This class action settlement covers current and former owners and lessees of certain Toyota vehicles that contain ZF-TRW airbag control units. Eligible models include certain Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia years. You can check whether your vehicle is included by using the VIN lookup tool on the settlement website. The settlement totals $78.5 million in cash and credits, along with an extended new parts warranty, a loaner vehicle program and other benefits. Cash is available through an out-of-pocket claims process, and the website notes that claim deficiency notices and payments are going out on a rolling basis. Claims are filed by mailing a completed paper claim form that must be postmarked by the claims deadline. Proof of documented expenses may be needed for cash claims, so check the claim form and settlement documents before filing. The settlement was approved by the court and the appeal was dismissed, so it is now being carried out. Toyota denies the allegations, and the court has not decided who is right.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
