This settlement covers people in the United States who were not subject to Starbucks' arbitration agreement and who were sent a COBRA notice between July 21, 2016 and January 1, 2023 because of a qualifying event, and who did not elect continuation coverage. Beneficiaries of Starbucks' welfare benefits plan, including the health and vision plans, are also included. The lawsuit claimed the COBRA notice did not clearly explain how to elect coverage; Starbucks denies wrongdoing. A settlement fund of $325,000 will be divided pro rata among an estimated 33,800 class members who submit valid claims. To get a payment, you must mail a completed claim form postmarked by December 2, 2026. If you do nothing, you get no check but still give up related claims. You may instead opt out or object by the same date. The court will hold a final approval hearing on January 6, 2027.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
