This settlement resolves a lawsuit claiming AdaptHealth used improper debt collection practices under North Carolina law, including billing people for medical equipment they did not receive or returned, and sending collection letters that suggested legal action. AdaptHealth denies wrongdoing, and the court has not decided the merits. Two groups may qualify. Billing Claim Class members must have bought, leased, or rented equipment from AdaptHealth or its affiliates, allegedly returned or never received it, been billed for dates of service between April 2019 and April 2025, and lived in North Carolina when a bill was sent. Collection Letter Claim Class members must have received a Seriously Past Due or Final Demand letter for services between April 2019 and March 2026 while living in North Carolina. Billing class members who submit a valid claim can receive $3,500. Collection letter class members who got a notice by mail or email will be paid $47 automatically, while others must file a claim form. Claims, opt-outs, and objections are due December 8, 2026.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
