This proposed class action settlement involves Navy Federal Credit Union members whose personal loans were opened without authorization by third parties, and who were then induced by scammers impersonating credit union staff to send the loan money elsewhere. The credit union denies wrongdoing, but under the settlement it will automatically cancel affected loans, ask credit bureaus to remove related reporting, and refund loan payments you made to your Navy Federal account. Affected members can also file a claim for an extra $250 payment. You do not need to do anything to receive the automatic benefits. To claim the extra payment, you can mail the claim form found on the last page of your notice or submit an online claim form through the settlement website. Claims must be postmarked by the stated deadline. You may also object to the settlement or opt out by writing to the court or administrator by the earlier November 9, 2026 deadline, though opting out means no payments.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
