This proposed settlement covers part-time hourly instructional faculty who worked for Long Beach Community College District during the class period from April 5, 2019 through August 25, 2025. The lawsuit, brought by two part-time faculty members, alleges minimum wage violations and seeks back wages, liquidated damages and interest. If you received a notice in the mail, your estimated individual payment is listed there, though the final amount depends on how many weekly credit hours the district records show you were assigned to teach in particular terms. If you think your hours were undercounted, you can file a written challenge. You do not need to do anything to receive a payment, but doing nothing means giving up your right to bring related wage claims against the district. You can instead opt out in writing, which keeps your claims but makes you ineligible for a payment. Objections to the settlement and hour challenges are due by December 3, 2026. The court will hold a final approval hearing on February 9, 2027. The page does not describe proof requirements for claiming.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
