This class action settlement, Le Beau v. Kia America, covers owners and lessees of certain 2016-2017 Kia Optima vehicles and 2017 Kia Sportage vehicles, including people who previously owned or leased one of these cars. Kia's records suggest some owners may be entitled to financial benefits. The only way to receive benefits is to submit a claim form online or by mail before the deadline of November 23, 2026. Filing a claim means you give up your right to sue Kia separately over the claims in this case. If you would rather keep the right to sue, you must opt out by October 23, 2026, though opting out forfeits any settlement benefits. You can also object to the settlement by the same October date while remaining a class member. The court still has to approve the settlement, and a final approval hearing is set for January 7, 2027, so payments depend on approval and any appeals.
