Owners and lessees of certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles sold or leased in the United States are covered by this class action settlement over ZF-TRW airbag control units that may fail to deploy airbags in a crash. Eligibility is determined by vehicle identification number, and the class is defined by ownership or lease as of April 14, 2025. Recalled vehicle owners can seek reimbursement for certain out-of-pocket costs tied to the recall, such as rental cars, towing, childcare, and some lost wages. Everyone who files a claim, including owners of unrecalled vehicles, can seek a residual payment of up to $350 for recalled vehicles or up to $150 for unrecalled ones, split per capita. Recalled vehicle owners also get a ten-year warranty on new parts installed during the recall. Claims are due April 8, 2027. The opt-out and objection deadlines have already passed. Check the settlement website for the VIN lookup tool and claim form, and review the FAQ for documentation requirements.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
