This settlement covers people who were sued in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court by Guadalupe Credit Union in a collections lawsuit where the credit union was not represented by a New Mexico licensed attorney. If you are a class member, you may receive the money you paid to the credit union after the lawsuit was filed, plus an additional $1,000. Payments will be made jointly if the lawsuit named more than one person, unless other arrangements are made. The credit union has also agreed to stop filing these lawsuits without an attorney. You do not need to file a claim to remain in the settlement; if you do nothing, you will be bound by it if the court approves it. You may object in writing or ask to speak at the fairness hearing, or you may exclude yourself by mailing a written request. Objections and exclusion requests are due by November 30, 2026. The credit union has not admitted wrongdoing. The page does not mention a separate claim form or proof requirement.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
