This settlement covers living people in the United States who received notice from Academy Mortgage Corporation that their personal information may have been accessed during a data incident around March 2023. That information could include names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, and financial account details. The company denies wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $1,995,000 into a settlement fund. Eligible members who file a valid claim may receive reimbursement of up to $3,000 for documented losses, a pro rata cash payment, and three years of credit monitoring. Filing a claim is the only way to receive these benefits. Claims can be submitted online or postmarked by mail by January 27, 2027. If you want to stay out of the settlement and keep the right to sue, you must opt out by December 28, 2026, and objections are due the same day. Doing nothing means giving up the right to sue over these claims without getting benefits. The court still has to approve the settlement, with a final fairness hearing set for March 31, 2027.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
