This settlement covers people who filled out a form on the USC Arcadia Hospital website to sign up for email or event updates between February 1, 2022, and January 31, 2023. The lawsuit, Merle v. USC Arcadia Hospital, claims the hospital used the Meta Pixel and similar tracking tools on its public website. The hospital denies wrongdoing, including any HIPAA violation, and the deal is a compromise rather than a finding of fault. Eligible people who submit a valid claim form can receive a cash payment. Class members who do not file a claim can still get one year of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, but must activate it by March 15, 2027, using the activation code in their notice. Alternatively, people can opt out or object, with those steps due by December 7, 2026. The court still must decide whether to approve the settlement, with a final approval hearing scheduled for December 14, 2026. Check the official site for the claim form and details.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
