This settlement covers people who bought or leased a new Ford Transit Trail, model years 2023 and 2024, before June 1, 2024, for personal, family, or household use. You must be the original owner or lessee, meaning the first person to buy or lease that new vehicle, and you must not already have received compensation from Ford for the vehicle or the alleged defect. The lawsuit claims the Transit Trail package lacks enough tire clearance in the wheel wells under some driving conditions. Ford denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle. Eligible owners can receive a $6,000 payment per class vehicle. To claim, submit a form online or by mail postmarked by January 15, 2027, and provide a completed IRS Form W-9 or other documents showing your vehicle and ownership status. Only one original owner or lessee per vehicle may claim. You can also object, opt out, or do nothing, though doing nothing means giving up the payment and your legal rights.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
