This settlement covers people whose private information was exposed in a targeted cyberattack on Carter Credit Union's computer systems in June 2025. Records accessed may have included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license or government ID numbers, financial account and card numbers, medical and health insurance details, and dates of birth. Class Members are people identified in the credit union's records as entitled to benefits. The credit union denies wrongdoing, but the parties agreed to settle the Ellis lawsuit in Louisiana state court. Eligible people can receive a cash payment and other benefits, but only by filing a valid, timely claim form, which can be submitted online, mailed, or requested by email from the settlement administrator. Anyone who wants to keep their right to sue must opt out by the October 20, 2026 deadline, and objections are due the same day. The claim deadline is November 19, 2026, and the final approval hearing is November 30, 2026.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
