A proposed $53 million class action settlement involves Harvard and related parties accused of failing to safeguard donated bodies held by the Harvard Anatomical Gift Program, allegedly allowing some remains to be improperly removed, dismembered, and sold. Defendants deny the claims and the court has not decided the case. You may qualify if you are a spouse, registered domestic partner, child, parent, or sibling of a donor whose body left the Harvard Morgue for cremation or burial between January 1, 2003, and March 31, 2023, or if you are the person named by the donor in the anatomical gift paperwork. Grandchildren of donors whose bodies left between January 1, 2018, and March 31, 2023 may also qualify, as may people who received certain Harvard letters dated June 14, 2023 or December 7, 2023, or named plaintiffs in the consolidated cases. To receive a cash payment, submit a claim form by mail or online by December 9, 2026. The page does not state the payment amount or whether proof is required. Objections are due November 16, 2026.
