A class action settlement resolves claims over a 2024 data incident at CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services, Inc., in which an unauthorized party accessed information including names and, in some cases, Social Security numbers. The company denies wrongdoing, and the deal is a compromise rather than a finding of fault. You qualify if you were mailed a notice saying your personal information may have been compromised in the incident. Certain people are excluded, such as those who opt out, the judge, company officers and directors, and anyone found criminally responsible for the incident. Eligible members can seek reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses caused by the incident. You may also receive a cash payment of roughly $100, though the final amount will be adjusted up or down depending on the remaining fund after fees, administration costs, service awards, and approved losses. These two benefits can be combined. To claim, you must submit a claim form by the deadline. Documentation is needed for out-of-pocket losses. The court still has to approve the settlement before any payments are made.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
