This settlement resolves a lawsuit brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau against FirstCash and several affiliated pawn lending companies. The government alleged that pawn loans issued to active-duty servicemembers and their dependents violated the Military Lending Act, along with a prior Bureau consent order and consumer protection law. Eligible borrowers who received affected pawn loans are entitled to redress. Rather than filing a traditional claim, you receive a redress notice in the mail and then choose how you want to be paid. You can submit a payment election form online, by mail, or by email within 30 days of receiving that notice. If you do nothing, your payment will be sent to you automatically by paper check. Check your mail for the notice and act quickly so you can choose your preferred payment method.
We're not a law firm; the official settlement site has the final word.
