Ok, I can barely believe this. I won a $25,000 gift certificate from Judith Ripka jewelry! SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! I want to thank everyone who contributes to this site. It is my one stop shop for reliable freebies and contests. I just started last year and have already gotten so much, but this is the best Christmas present I could have dreamt up! Hey Troph – it depends on your state. I’m pretty sure you have to pay both state and federal taxes on any prizes worth above $500. It’s considered “income” when you win anything above $500. Similar to the lottery; if you win $20, $100, etc, you don’t need to report that on your taxes as income. But anything above $500 you do. Otherwise the IRS is going to send you a nice surprise “pay me now” note later on.
