Epicurious Healthy Lunchtime Challenge & Kids State Dinner Recipe Contest

Entries will be judged only against the other entries submitted from the same state or territory. In the initial round, judges will review and score all Submissions based on the following criteria: 50% healthy nutritional value of the recipe; 25% perceived taste; 15% creativity and originality; 5% affordability and 5% the story behind your recipe. Up to three (3) entries from each state, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the District of Columbia with the highest overall scores will be declared finalists.
you must include: (a) the title of an original recipe for one healthy lunch time meal, (b) brief essay giving some details about the recipe (e.g., how did you come up with it? What would you serve with it so that you can include all or most of the major food groups, as detailed on MyPlate.gov? Would you include on the side a fruit, veggie, protein, grain or dairy? Is your recipe gluten-free, lactose-free or nut-free?), (c) ingredient list with ingredients in exact common U.S. household measurements in order of use (all ingredients must be commonly available at local retailers), (d) step-by-step preparation instructions, including cooking times, (e) the number of servings the recipe will make; and (f) a photograph or drawing of the completed dish (photographs submitted online must be under 2MB and formatted as jpg, png, or non-animated gif).
PRIZE DESCRIPTION. There will be fifty-six (56) winners (one winner from each state, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the District of Columbia), with the exception that in the event an insufficient number of eligible entries that met a minimum threshold of quality, in Sponsor’s sole reasonable discretion, are received from a particular state/territory, Sponsor reserves the right to declare no winner for such state/territory and thereby not award any prize for such state/territory. The prize is two (2) roundtrip coach airfare tickets from the major commercial airport nearest the winner’s primary residence in the US to Washington DC, one (1) standard hotel room (double occupancy) for one (1) night at a hotel selected by Sponsor. The approximate retail value of the prize is $865, depending on exact itinerary.
In addition to the prize described above, winners will also have the opportunity to be invited to a Kids’ “State Dinner” hosted by the White House, which will take place at lunch time.
