Week 1 (April 18 – April 24) Smarter Upstarter: Pitch your idea for a startup business in 140 characters or less. Alexis Ohanian, founder of Reddit, Breadpig and ambassador for Y Combinator, will help choose a winner. Your idea must be your own original work that has not been copied from others, and that does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
Week 2 (April 25 – May 1) Digital Gentleman: We love the art of the infographic. Tweet us a link to your own original data visualization. Nicholas Felton of Feltron.com and co-founder of Daytum will help choose a winner. Your Submission must be your own original work that has not been copied from others, and that does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
Week 3 (May 2 – May 8) IT Girl: Tell us your original superhero name, and what’s in your gadget arsenal in 140 characters or less. Links to original illustrations encouraged. Veronica Belmont will weigh in on the entries. Your Submission, including any illustrations, must be your own original work that has not been copied from others, and that does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
Week 4 (May 9 – May 15) Culturazzi: Visit Xtranormal.com and follow the instructions to create your own original animated feature (no more than three minutes in length), then Tweet us a link. A team from Rotten Tomatoes will be on our judging panel.Your movie cannot have been copied from others, and it must not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
Week 5 (May 16 – May 22) Gastronaut: Tweet us a photo, in the style of Modernist Cuisine, of the most madcap culinary creation you’ve made. Top Chef Richard Blais will be at judge’s table for this week. You must be the photographer or have permission from the photographer to use the photo for this contest. The photo must be original. You may not submit any photos from the Modernist Cuisine.
Week 6 (May 23 – May 29) Adventure Capitalist: Swimming with the sharks? Climbing Kilimanjaro? Tweet us a picture of your most extreme adventure, and tell us what tech helped you get there in 140 characters or less. WIRED’s gear guy John Bradley and Survivorman’s Les Stroud will help choose the most extreme entry. You must be the photographer or have permission from the photographer to use the photo for this contest. Your Submission must be your own original work that has not been copied from others, and that does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
Week 7 (May 29 – June 5) Maker: Do it Yourself! Make something on your own and Tweet us a picture or video of your creation. @Adafruit’s Limor Fried will be our guest judge. You must be the photographer or have permission from the photographer to use the photo for this contest. Your Submission must be your own original work that has not been copied from others, and that does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
PRIZE DESCRIPTION. There will be one winner each week for a total of seven winners. The prizes are:
