Itinerary:
Day 1: Cusco Walking City Tour, Cusco
o Tour: Half-day walking around the city of Cusco Spend half a day walking around the city of Cusco, ancient capital of the Incan Empire and see the interesting blend of the Incan and Spanish cultures. The outing begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Once the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a lovely church over the top of this temple’s foundations: the church of Santo Domingo, that is still there today. You will continue on foot to the neighborhood of San Blas, where the finest artisans in Cusco live and work.

Day 2: SACRED VALLEY: HIKING MARAS/MORAY & PICHINGOTO + Box Lunch
o Tour: Maras Moray Pichingoto excursion You will head out on the road that crosses the Sacred Valley of the Incas to reach the important Moray archeological site, elevation 3176 meters, where enormous circular and Pre-Incan semi-circular agricultural terraces were constructed to be used as a botanical laboratory for experimenting on plant domestication and foreign crop acclimatization. The area is so large that at least 3000 plant varieties, including potatoes and corn, could have been grown. From there, you move onwards to the town of Maras (3028 meters) to visit the biggest salt pans in the region that have been mined continuously since the Incan Empire. After this stop, you pass through the village of Pichingoto, which was the top salt producer during the Spanish colonial era, and drive through the Sacred Valley, admiring its corn fields and green prairies, until you arrive at your hotel.

Day 3: Cusco
o Tour:
Misminay (Sacred Valley Community The excursion begins in the community of Misminay, elevation 3700 meters, in the Urubamba Valley, where the townsfolk will greet you. You will be able to join the families as they perform their daily tasks, like plowing or harvesting, depending on the time of year. You can also participate in an offering to the earth (a rite that honors the earth mother) and enjoy a traditional lunch made by the community women from ingredients organically grown in their fields. In addition, you will see them spin and dye wool thread using natural dyes as well as weave fabric following their ancient techniques.

Day 4: CUSCO – ONE DAY INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU with private guide (Inca Trail closed in January)
o Tour: CHACHABAMBA (KM104) – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the Train station. Expedition train stops at Km 104 where you cross a hanging bridge and continue to the Chachabamba site. These ruins, discovered in 1940, are located on the old Inca road that ran along the southern bank of the Urubamba river. The style of buildings and stonework suggest that this was an important religious site, as well as having the secondary function as a gate house guarding this entrance to Machu Picchu. From Chachabamba the Inca Trail climbs the hillside, entering some woods and crossing a small stream. After about 2 hours after leaving Chachabamba, the path at last descends into a nice Valley where it becomes a canyon and the cloud forest begins to appear. Boxed Lunch provided. After lunch you will reach a beautiful waterfall, and soon after leave the forest to arrive at the foot of the superb ruins of Wiñay Wayna. You will climb up
stairway and pass through the urban area of the terraces and many stone buildings passing a series of Inca baths. In the afternoon we will finally reach the door of the sun (INTIPUNKU) from where the trail winds downhill. The classic view into the lost citadel will be a unique experience; final descent toward the town of Aguas Calientes for rest and overnight stay. Dinner included at the hotel.
o Hotel: Overnight stay for two at El Mapi by Inkaterra 3* – Standard Room
o Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/Dinner
o Restrictions: INCA TRAIL on Day 4 IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY and is capacity controlled, in case a visit to the INCA TRAIL cannot be confirmed due to capacity control, an EXPEDITION roundtrip train will be confirmed once Grand Prize winner and Companion arrive to Machu Picchu in lieu of the INCA TRAIL. To increase chances of reserving seats for the INCA DAY TRAIL, Grand Prize winner and Companion must provide each passenger’s complete personal information (full name, passport number, nationality, and date of birth) prior to travel.
Day 5: MACHU PICCHU, CUSCO
o Tour: After an early breakfast you will take the bus to get to Machu Picchu and make a guided tour to the Inca Citadel and surroundings with your private guide! The earliest the better, so you can find the place quiet and appreciate the sunrise there! Unforgettable experience! After your guided tour you will also be able to hike up the challenging HUAYNA PICCHU MOUNTAIN (2 hrs) so you can have the best view of Machu Picchu from the very top! (Good health is recommended. You should consult with your doctor before starting this or any other physical activity) After that, you will return to town to have a buffet lunch and later on return by train to Ollantaytambo. At this place the bus waits for the group and will transfer all to the hotel in Cusco for rest.

Day 6: CUSCO
o This day there will be no excursions, you will have the whole day on your own so you can explore at leisure every corner of Cusco.

Day 7: CUSCO
o Buffet breakfast.
o Transfer back to the airport.
