roject Participant Requirements: Winners will be required to meet certain standards of physical ability, be in good health and be able to withstand the physical demands of the Team Marlboro project, which may include the ability to walk great distances and perform heavy lifting in high-heat conditions. Presenter reserves the right to require that potential winners complete a medical release and health questionnaire as a condition of participation. Presenter will review the responses from potential winners and determine in its sole discretion whether potential winners are capable of meeting the physical demands required to participate in the project. Presenter’s decisions are final.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Here is a unique opportunity to be one of 20 winners who will be selected to participate in the Team Marlboro 2013 Waccamaw River Project based on submissions at Marlboro.com. Tell us why you are right for this project. It could be your skills, your passion for the outdoors or your team attitude. In 1,000 characters or fewer, tell us why you think you have what it takes. IMPORTANT: Your essay must comply with all applicable essay requirements listed below.

Essay Requirements:
Essay is limited to a maximum of 1,000 characters, including spaces and all punctuation.
Essay must be in English; common foreign words/phrases are acceptable.
Essay must be the original work of the entrant.
Essay must not in any way disparage Presenter or persons or organizations associated with Presenter, in Presenter’s sole discretion; must not include threats to any person, place, business or group; and must not in any other way violate applicable federal, state or local laws and regulations.
Essay must not promote illegal drug use, unsafe use of firearms/weapons or any activities that are or may appear to be unsafe or dangerous.
Essay should not contain offensive words or statements (including words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group) and should not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity.
Essay should not describe or reference indecent behavior, including but not limited to profanities or obscenities.
Essays that the Presenter deems to be inappropriate, hateful, tortuous, defamatory or slanderous will be disqualified.
Essays that are health- and/or youth-oriented are subject to further review and may be disqualified.

Limit one entry per person. Essays must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. ET on 8/31/13.

JUDGING: Essays received during the Promotional Period will be judged based on the following criteria: interest in the specific project – 40%; passion for the outdoors – 30%; originality and creativity – 20%; and skills relevant to the team/project – 10%. The 20 highest-scoring essays will be declared the potential winners. In the event of a tie, essays will be rejudged based on interest in the specific project to determine a potential winner. The 20 winners will include at least 6 males and 6 females, assuming a sufficient number of entries for each gender are received. Judging will be accomplished by D.L. Blair, Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final. Judging will be completed on or about 9/6/13.

PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES: (20) Prizes: Each winner will be offered an opportunity to travel to South Carolina to participate in the Team Marlboro Waccamaw River Project from 11/4/13 to 11/8/13. Winner will be an active participant in a project designed to help restore and preserve the Waccamaw River Blue Trail. Project trip duration will not exceed five days. Prize includes round-trip coach air transportation from the commercial airport nearest winner’s home to project location, accommodations, meals while at the project site and project activities. Appropriate project resources, including all transportation at project location, will be provided. Winner will be expected to work hands-on up to eight hours a day with a designated Project Team Leader. Upon completion of project, a check in the amount of $2,000.00 will be awarded to winner. Approximate retail value of each prize is $4,700.00. Exact location will be disclosed at time of winner’s notification. Winner must agree to participate in project, work on designated tasks and depart and return on dates specified by Presenter or prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected. All dates are subject to change. Winner must possess required travel documents (i.e., valid photo ID) prior to departure. Winner must present a valid, government-issued photo ID upon arrival at the project destination.

The maximum total approximate retail value of all 20 prizes available to be won is $94,000.00. Presenter reserves the right to provide a cash alternative or to substitute a prize of equal or greater value at its sole discretion. No transfer or substitution of prize by winner permitted. Presenter will not be responsible for any portion of a prize that may not be available due to any event beyond Presenter’s control. Winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes. Winner will be required to provide state and federal tax reporting information as a condition of prize award and will receive an IRS form 1099 for the total value of the prize won as stated in these Official Rules. Approximate retail value is as of the time the rules were printed, and the value of the prize may fluctuate. Winner is not entitled to any difference between the ARV and the actual value of the prize at the time the prize is awarded. Limit one prize per person.
