ENTRY SUBMISSION: In Phase 1 of the Contest, you will need to submit five (5) photos that showcase your creative ability (an “entry”). Phase 1 of the Contest begins at 12:00:00 AM ET (start of day) on 10/7/13 and continues through 11:59:59 PM ET on 11/3/13 (the “Entry Period”). During the Entry Period log on to www.marlboroblack.com, click on the tile for the Marlboro Black Book Photo Contest and follow the instructions to upload your entry.

Limit one entry per person. All entries must be submitted digitally through the Website and must comply with all applicable Entry Submission Guidelines (see below). Compatible mobile devices must have an iOS6 (or newer) or Android 4 (or newer) operating system.

Entry Submission Guidelines:
Entry must contain five (5) individually uploaded photo files.
Entry photo files must be in JPEG (.jpg) or PNG (.png) format only, with a maximum file size of 5MB per photo file.
Entry photos may be in color or black and white.
Entry photos must not contain identifiable person(s).
Entry must be your original work that has not won a previous prize or award. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party’s preexisting work does not qualify as entrant’s original creation.
Entry must not in any way disparage Presenter or persons or organizations associated with the Presenter, in Presenter’s sole discretion; must not include threats to any person, place, business, or group; and must not in any other way violate applicable federal, state, or local laws and regulations.
Entry must not contain any reference to tobacco-related products or tobacco usage.
Entry must not promote illegal drug use, use of firearms/weapons or any activities that are or appear to be unsafe or dangerous, as determined by Presenter in its sole discretion.
Entry must not contain offensive words or statements (including words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic group).
Entry must not include threats to any person, place, business, or group; it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm, entity, and it must not in any way violate applicable federal, state, or local laws and regulations.
Entry must not contain content that is inappropriate, hateful, tortuous, defamatory or slanderous, as determined by Presenter in its sole discretion.
Entry must not contain content that is health- and/or youth-oriented, as determined by Presenter in its sole discretion.
Entry must not contain content that depicts indecent behavior, including but not limited to profanities or obscenities.
Entry must be suitable for presentation in a public forum.
Presenter/Judges reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entry that, in their sole opinion, does not comply with the above Entry Submission Guidelines and these Official Rules in general, including any entry that refers, depicts or in any way reflects negatively upon the Presenter, the Contest or any other person or entity.
Once an entry is submitted, the entry is final and may not be deleted or modified, except by Presenter. All material submitted becomes the sole property of Presenter and will not be acknowledged or returned.

JUDGING TO SELECT UP TO EIGHT FINALISTS: All eligible entries received during the Entry Period will be judged by D.L. Blair, Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final, to determine up to eight (8) Finalists. Judging will be based on the following criteria: originality and creativity of photos submitted – 50%; artistic breadth as evidenced in photos submitted – 25%; cohesiveness of photos in portfolio – 25%. The eight (8) entries with the highest scores will be declared the potential Finalists. In the event of a tie, tied entries will be rejudged based on “originality and creativity” of photos submitted to determine the Finalist(s).

FINALIST VERIFICATION: Potential Finalists will be required to (i) sign and return a Declaration of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form, a Medical Questionnaire and Liability Release and, where legally permissible, a Publicity Release and (ii) submit sufficient proof of age in the form of a legible photocopy of a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., a driver’s license) bearing a complete name, address, date of birth and signature (“Documents”). Completed Documents must be returned within 5 days (including Saturday, Sunday and holidays) of attempted notification. Noncompliance within this time period may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate Finalist, time permitting. Any false statement made by a Finalist will result in automatic disqualification. Presenter reserves the right to conduct background check(s) on potential Finalists, and potential Finalists must cooperate with Presenter as a condition of prize award. Finalists will be notified by overnight mail on or about 12/23/13 or after Finalist’s eligibility is determined. Any Finalist notification returned to Presenter as undeliverable may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate Finalist, time permitting. If an insufficient number of eligible entries are received or if Presenter is unable to verify eight (8) Finalists, Phase 2 of this Contest will proceed with the number of Finalists who have been verified. Finalists may be featured on the Website, at the sole discretion of the Presenter.

PHASE 2
PHOTO SHOOT CHALLENGES: Finalists will travel to a location specified by Presenter to participate in a series of four (4) photo shoot challenges (each a “Challenge”). Photo content from each respective Challenge must be compiled by each Finalist and submitted to D.L. Blair on site during the Challenge trip by the time specified (“Challenge Submission”). Challenge details/objectives and instructions for completing and submitting Challenge photos to D.L. Blair for judging will be provided to the Finalists at the Challenge trip location prior to the start of the first Challenge. Challenge Submission must comply with the following Challenge Submission requirements and any additional instructions/requirements provided:

Challenge Submission Requirements:
Challenge Submission must be in digital format, submitted on the USB thumb drive provided. Print or film submissions will not be accepted/judged.
Maximum file size of each photo file must not exceed 5 MB.
Challenge Submission must consist of a minimum of 10 photos per Challenge, and cannot exceed a maximum of 12 photos per Challenge.
Challenge Submission must include only content shot during the time frame of the specific Photo Challenge
Challenge Submission must be received by D.L. Blair, Inc. on site during the Challenge trip, by the time specified in the Finalist’s Challenge itinerary.
Challenge Submission and all content associated with said submission must be suitable for presentation in a public forum, at the sole determination of the Presenter.
Presenter reserves the right to change the minimum and/or maximum number of Challenge photos for any of the four Challenges at its sole discretion.

JUDGING OF THE PHOTO CHALLENGE: All Challenge Submissions that are received (per the above Challenge Submission Requirements) will be judged by a panel of photography experts under the supervision of D.L. Blair, Inc., based on the following criteria to determine one winner per Challenge: how well the submission meets the Challenge objectives – 50%; originality and creativity – 25%; and photo quality – 25%. The Finalist with the highest score in each Challenge will be declared the winner of that Challenge. In the event of a tie, tied entries will be rejudged based on how well the submission meets the Challenge objectives to determine the winner. Grand Prize winners will be notified on or about 3/11/14.

PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES (“ARV”):

Finalist Prizes (8) – Each Finalist will be required to travel to a Presenter-specified location to participate in a series of four (4) photo shoot challenges from 1/17/14 to 1/20/14. Prize includes round-trip coach air transportation from the commercial airport nearest winner’s home to challenge location, accommodations, and meals while at the challenge location. Finalists will also receive a camera package valued at approximately $8,120.00, which will be awarded on site at the Photo Shoot Challenge location. Camera package consists of a Canon EOS 5D Mark III EF 24-105mm IS Kit, a Canon 600 RT Speedlite, a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens, a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Autofocus Lens, a Canon Battery Grip, Canon PowerShot S110, a Manfrotto 293 Aluminum Tripod, and a Canon Gadget Bag. Finalists will also receive a check in the amount of $4,230.00. Total approximate retail value of each Finalist Prize is $15,000.00.

The Photo Shoot Challenge location will be disclosed at time of winner’s notification. Winner must agree to participate in each photo shoot challenge and depart and return on dates specified by Presenter or prize may be forfeited and an alternate Finalist may be selected, time permitting. All dates are subject to change. Finalist must possess required travel documents (i.e., valid photo ID) prior to departure. Finalist must present a valid, government-issued photo ID upon arrival at the challenge destination. Presenter reserves the right to provide a cash alternative or to substitute a prize of equal or greater value at its sole discretion. No transfer or substitution of prize by winner permitted. Presenter will not be responsible for any portion of a prize that may not be available due to any event beyond Presenter’s control. Approximate retail value is as of the time the rules were printed. The actual value of the prize may vary based on airfare fluctuations and distance between departure and destination. Finalist is not entitled to any difference between the ARV and the actual value of the prize at the time the prize is awarded. Limit one Finalist prize per person.

Judge’s Challenge Prize (4) – One winner for each Challenge will receive a check in the amount of $10,000.00.
