yup you can just click “format” under my computer when you plug it in and it will wipe it clean. CHances are it’s not a very big drive but we’ll see

I saw an offer for a free flash drive at http://myfreeflashdrive.com

I’m thinking about trying it… has anybody gotten anything from them?

I got mine but I can’t remove the CDFS from it. The drive acts like 2 drives – one CDROM which I have not been able to change under Widows xp, windows 7 or Linux. Anyone have any ideas? It’s a nice little drive but I don’t like the CDROM to keep auto running and loading a .pdf. I looked at it once and that’s enough.

    Hi Sara and David,

My name is Tim and I run the site mentioned above. I won’t include a link as I don’t want this to be considered spam. I saw a few referrals from this site on my stats and thought I should come check it out.

To answer your question David, the partition on the flash drive you received is done on the controller chip. You can’t format or edit the autorun partition. Its created in the hardware. Sorry.

Sara, feel free to give us a try, we run a great service and provide high quality flash drives… unlocked without auto runs or any data loads. No tricks, no spam, just free flash drives.

Why exactly are you offering free flash drives, Tim? There has to be a catch somewhere, right?

    Reply

    Tim replied on June 15th, 2010 :

    Hi Anna,

No catch. Our business model is different but simple. We give free flash drives to our users and they are paid for by our advertisers. Thats it. We award you points for looking at our sponsors advertising. Once you hit a point threshold (which is very low – the equivalent of looking at 1 or 2 ads), we send you a flash drive. You can pick between 2GB, 4GB and 8GB flash drives.

We have a youtube video on our site that shows the process from start to finish – so you can see that there aren’t any catches or hidden tricks. We are honest and hardworking, just like you. Please give us a try.

If you would like, I can send you a promo code to get you started with some extra points? I don’t want to just include it in this post, as I don’t want this to be considered spam.
