Chris – this is a question about Google Checkout. I tried to use it at drugstore.com w/ a new Gmail account, and I did this 3 times (3 different accounts) which I knew were not used already, but the $10 never appeared and nothing was deducted. Do you know why this might be?? Thanks!

Hmm… it also looks like there’s a magazine offer included with a purchase of $10 or more, which you can decline and recieve a rebate for. In theory, that means you stand to MAKE $10 :naughty:

Why do they need your credit card info? Doesnt seem very safe to me for them to have ur cc info if u owe them nothing :dunno:

They need the CC info because they can’t know that you are only making this one transaction that will end up being free.

It’s like I have my info on file at Amazon and in theory I could place an order that would be a zero total (gift card, for example, and it was $25+ so you get free shipping).

These free transactions at Buy.com are cool! Is this something new, or has this been around a while?

I checked my statement online and it says that Google has charged me a dollar for each purchase. Hopefully this is just an approval charge and will be credited back. Otherwise it’s not free and that defeats the purpose, kind of, only $2. But, still it’s the principal.

yup, its just a charge to make sure that your CC is valid. It’ll go away

did anyone get a shipping confirmation from buy.com yet? I usually got those quickly, but haven’t w/ the screwdriver set that charged me taxes. I hope my order didn’t get pulled… :dunno:

Re-above posts, the $1 charge is just a placeholder if you will, it “falls off” after it’s processed. Lots of companies do this. Chris-all your tips are amazing, I really appreciate it, how cool is that to have a 10 spot in my pocket? Thanks so much! :h5:

Yes, that $1 charge will go away, it did for me with the screwdriver set! I actually tried to get this USB drive for free then instead of the screwdriver set but it was 9.95, NOT over $10. But now it is eligible for the $10 off new google check out people! YAY!! buy.com delivers FAST too! :bigthumb:

my question is, if you send in your order and it shows up as free, will they give you the $10 rebate still? b/c technically we did not spend $10.. :dunno:

How did you guys get the Google Checkout $10 off? It says on the Google website that that promotion has ended. Here’s the link – http://checkout.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=67465&topic=

It mentions some sites still show it.

When I tried it through the Google Checkout Buy.com didn’t take the $10 off.

You just have to register a new google checkout account and when you get to the price screen where you choose shipping it will show the $10 off

    Hello Chris,

I already order for Kingston 1GB USB Flash Drive.

Is $10,- Google Checkout only valid for Kingston 1GB USB Flash Drive ?
or I can use it to buy other stuffs as well ?
May be for stuff under $ 10,-..

Do I need to make a new account again ?
and use other or same bank account ?

    Thanks
